2006 Team News:
12/02/2006: Coming soon: 2007 plans (which should include the return of the small block).
11/04/2006: New... Sometimes live GarageCam. Coming in 2007, live PitCam.
10/22/2006: Eastern States Weekend is over. Our day ended early on lap 26 as Steve got caught in a turn 1 pile-up.
10/20/2006: Eastern States Weekend is here. We were only able to bring up the Big Block for Steve. After waiting all day for the rain to clear, Steve set 11th fast time (out of 77?) and is now locked in for the 200 on Sunday.
9/29/2006: Sorry for the lack of updates this month... Congratulations to Joe Morel for his first OCFS DIRT Sportsman Championship, and good luck at Syracuse. The big block has been in the trailer for the past month due to the 3 rain outs. Next up is a practice session this Sunday (unless it rains). ...stay tuned for more news.
9/2/2006: 3rd rain out in a row.
8/26/2006: Rained out again. One more week left in the regular season.
8/19/2006: Rained out.
8/18/2006: The Big Block will be back out this weekend, while the Sportsman has been loaned out to Joe Morel as a backup car to help him win the championship.
8/12/2006: Alan did come up from Georgia and took out the Sportsman car, but we were unable to get him into the feature.
8/5/2006: The 3rd time was not a charm for Ken, a bobble in turn 2 on a very slick track cost him a qualifying spot. One more week coming up for the Sportsman where Alan Sturhann may take the car out. Then in 2 weeks, the Big Block is scheduled to return to finish out the season.
7/29/2006: Ken went out again with the Sportsman's; the car was a little better, but still not good enough...........another DNQ.
7/22/2006: With all the rain in the area, Ken decided to keep the sportsman car home. The big block motor is due to be back this week, so the team will be able to focus on getting that car back together.
7/15/2006: Ken took out the small block car with the Sportsman's. The car ran well, but 12 years of rust and an ill handling chassis made for a DNQ. He'll try again next week. The big block motor should be back together soon.
7/7/2006: Update: We found a problem with the big block motor so we will not be able to make the July 13th SDS race. The motor may be out of action for a couple of more weeks. In the meantime, we've pulled Steve sister's sportsman motor out of storage and are installing it into the small block car. It should be ready for July 15th, where team owner Ken Hermance will take it out after a 12 year absence from behind the wheel............this should be interesting.
6/29/2006: We're going to be taking the next couple of weeks off for summer vacation. We'll be back for the July 13th SDS race.
6/24/2006: Started 18th and finished 19th.
6/17/2006: Steve started 16th and finished 14th.
6/10/2006: Started 7th, but got involved in an opening lap accident. The car received front end damage and Steve was unable to continue.
6/3/2006: Rained out.
5/27/2006: First top ten finish of the year after a 5th place start. The car's looking better, but there's still some work to do.
5/20/2006: Started 9th, involved in a lap 2 multi-car crash, finished 18th.
5/13/2006: DNQ.
5/6/2006: Started 13th, finished 20th.
4/29/2006: Steve took the big block to a 17th place finish after starting 16th. The new car faired ok, but the carburetor and brakes need a little work. Still not a bad night considering 42 cars attempted to make the show. Congratulations to Craig "Hollywood" Mitchell for winning the OCFS opening night Big Block feature.
4/22/2006: The big block is now together and ready, but rain has postponed opening night at OCFS.
3/26/2006: Team update; both cars are assembled and painted but are waiting on motors. The big block should be ready shortly, while unexpected problems may keep the small block sidelined for awhile.
3/19/2006: The OCFS schedule has been posted.
2/25/2006: Pictures of the new Big Block car have been added to the "Photos" section.
2/7/2006: It's official, OCFS is back under the DIRT banner. more info ...
1/7/2006: Congratulations to Alan Sturhann for being named the 2005 OCFS 358 Modified Rookie of the Year!!!
